JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Zoning Board of Appeals has tabled the use and area variances proposed by Verizon Wireless to install a 100-foot “monopine” cellphone tower in a residential area of the city.
On Wednesday, the zoning board met and tabled the use and area variances after discussing the proposal with the petitioners and hearing from concerned residents. According to the Post-Journal, the petitioner needs to provide additional information to the zoning board on the matter, including how the tower may impact storm water drainage in that area, before it can move forward with a decision. Details regarding a plan to lease space on the cell tower was also requested.
The petition is for a use and area variance on behalf of Verizon Wireless to install the cell tower adjacent to 40 Hallock St., which is owned by Hillcrest Baptist Church. No timetable was provided on when the issue may be taken up again.
