YOUNG INTRODUCES ‘PROTECT OUR CHILDREN ACT’
ALBANY, NY – Senator Cathy Young is co-sponsoring legislation in the state Senate that she says would better protect children. The “Protect Our Children Act” was introduced by the Olean republican and several other senators in Wake of Caylee Anthony Tragedy.
Since the July 5 verdict that found Casey Anthony was not responsible for the death of her daughter Caylee, Senator Young said her office’s inbox has been inundated with emails and letters from frustrated constituents who are advocating for tougher changes to New York’s child protection laws. Lawmakers have responded by introducing legislation that Young says would better protect children from neglect, repeated abuse and murder.

The “Protect Our Children Act” would create new felonies for concealing the death of a child and failing to notify law enforcement when the whereabouts of a young child is unknown for more than 24 hours.
