ALBANY, N.Y. – A memorial marking the 10th anniversary of September 11, 2001 will be on display in Jamestown at the end of this month. The announcement was made yesterday by Governor Andrew Cuomo, who said that Jamestown is one of 30 locations that will host an exhibit entitled “New York Remembers.”

The exhibition will open on Aug. 29 at Jamestown’s city hall and will provide area residents an opportunity to remember the victims, and also pay tribute to the countless heroes who came from all corners of the state to help in the clean-up and recovery efforts. It will feature historical artifacts – many of which have never been seen by the public – from the collections of the State Museum and National September 11 Memorial and Museum.  The exhibit will remain open for two weeks, up through September 11, 2011.

Both Schlemer and Harkness were able to sit down with WRFA and discuss the project in depth yesterday afternoon. The complete interview will be broadcast later today on WRFA’s Community Matters program, which begins at 6 p.m.

The first fundraiser, known as the AHA Festival, will take place on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 2 to 9 p.m. The DJDC is sponsoring the organization until it has official 5o1-c3 status and is co-presenting the festival.
