MAYVILLE – The Jamestown man charged with the double homicide that took place earlier this month on Barrows St. will wait until March 16 until his next day in court.
The Jamestown Post Journal is reporting today that 51 year old Allen Witruke had his preliminary hearing adjourned until March 16, 2016. The decision to adjourn came after both the defense and prosecution agreed that a 90-day adjournment would give both sides more time to work on the case.
Witruke is being defended by Public Defender Ned Barone. The prosecution is being led by Chautauqua County first assistant District Attorney John Zuroski.
Witruke was arrested and charged with two counts of 2nd degree murder on Dec. 8 after the bodies of his wife, 52 year-old Catherine Witruke, and step-son, 34 year-old Eric Washburn, were discovered in their home at 335 Barrows St. Jamestown Police say Witruke allegedly used blunt force trauma on one of the victims and stabbed both multiple times. Police and the prosecution have not disclosed any motive for the killings.
The following day Witruke was arraigned in Jamestown city court and pleaded not guilty to both charges and is currently being held in the Chautauqua County jail.
