JAMESTOWN – Univera Healthcare’s “What Inspires U?” initiative with Jamestown radio station WRFA-FM has been honored with a 2012 GOLD MarCom Award for outstanding creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals. The award was presented in the Radio Promotion category. The MarCom competition honors excellence in a variety of categories and this year attracted more than 6,000 entries from the United States, Canada and several other countries.
Buffalo-based Univera Healthcare has an office on East Fairmount Avenue in Lakewood to serve its thousands of members in Chautauqua County, and that’s how it came to know WRFA, which broadcasts at 107.9 FM and worldwide online at WRFALP.com.
Univera was so inspired by WRFA’s programming, civic spirit and outreach to youth in the community, the health insurer wanted to spread the word about the station and its role as a center of inspiration for Jamestown and Chautauqua County. WRFA is affiliated with the Arts Council and operated by 10,000 Maniacs founding member Dennis Drew.
Custom designed magnetic picture frames were created by Univera Healthcare so that friends of WRFA could post pictures of what inspires them on their refrigerators at home or their file cabinets at work. Friends of WRFA also were invited to post their inspiring photos on the station’s Facebook page at facebook.com/wrfalp.
Two thousand picture frames were made available FREE at merchants and other sites around Jamestown. A complete list of locations is posted online at WRFALP.com.
MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand creative professionals. The Association oversees awards and recognition programs, provides judges and sets standards for excellence.
