JAMESTOWN – The 2015 campaign for the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County is now underway. Last week the community service agency held the officials campaign kickoff at the Winifred Crawford Diebert Boys and Girls Club, one of the 24 agencies it provides assistance too.
Campaign Chair Hans Auer said he’s ready to raise funds for local programming and is encouraging the community to step up and help the organization reach its $1.3 million goal.
“The United Way is focused on supporting a variety of organizations that aim to improve our community,” Auer explained. “The programs that I feel are most important are those that provide training and job skill development for area residents, but I also feel all the programs the United Way supports are geared toward improving the health of our community.”
So far, the pacesetters campaign has already reached more than 10 percent of the goal, with $153,000 raised during the past month and a half.
“Our Pacesettters, Individual & Leadership Circle donors, and Foundation partners have given us a great start,” Auer said. “Next, each of our teams will begin distributing campaign packets to their workplace contacts. The next few weeks will be a flurry of mailings and meetings. It is an exciting and busy time.”
The local United Way is led by Executive Director Tory Irgang, who explained that all funding donated to the campaign stays here in Southern Chautauqua County.
“Every cent that is raised toward the 2015 United Way Campaign goes directly to helping 24 different service organizations,” Irgang said. “So anyone who makes a donation should know that their money will stay here in the area.”
