JAMESTOWN – Two more individuals have been arrested in connection to the investigation into the July 1 morning home invasion that resulted in a gunfire exchange between a city police officer and one of the suspects.
Jamestown Police Captain Robert Samuelson says two of the three other suspects that were still at large have now been located in Buffalo. On Thursday afternoon, Samuelson sent out a media release saying the two were brought into police custody with the assistance of the New York State Division of Parole. One of the two has been taken into custody and is being held on parole violation in Erie County. The other subject is currently being interviewed by investigators from the Jamestown Police Department in the city of Buffalo.
Police are still withholding the names of the suspects at this time, due to the investigation still being ongoing.
The two arrests brings the total number of arrested individuals allegedly connected to the incident to six. However, Samuelson adds that investigators are still looking for a seventh suspect who may be injured as a result of being shot by police.
On Tuesday morning, July 1, at about 3 a.m., a group of seven men allegedly invaded a home at 188 Falconer Street and assaulted the residents inside the home. When police arrived on the scene to investigate, one of the suspects allegedly fired at the officer. As a result, the officer returned fire and may have possibly hit the individual. However, the alleged shooter, along with two other men, fled out a window and were not apprehended. Police did, however, locate two others inside the home that morning. Later Tuesday afternoon, two other men allegedly connected to the burglary were spotted and arrested while walking on the railroad tracks in Celoron.
Anyone who may have information on the whereabouts of the injured suspect is asked to contact the Jamestown Police at 483-7537 or they can leave an anonymous tip at 483-8477. Al calls will be kept confidential.
