JAMESTOWN – Two Jamestown residents were arrested Friday morning following a drug investigation by local authorities.
Jamestown city police say 30 year-old Mark Goldsmith and 29 year-old Peggy Sue Reese were each charged with criminal possession of marijuana. In addition, Goldsmith was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and tampering with physical evidence.
The arrest stem from an investigation by the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force, the New York State Police CNET and the Jamestown Police SWAT team – who executed a search warrant at 128 Fairview Ave. apt. no. 4 shortly before 7 a.m. Friday morning.
As police were making entry into the apartment, officers who were stationed outside say Goldsmith was allegedly throwing money and marijuana out of a third story window. Both Goldsmith and Reese were taken into custody. Police were able to recover more than 2.5 pounds of marijuana and $4,300 in cash.
Police say the investigation was partially the result of numerous complaints from residents regarding frequent traffic at that location.
