JAMESTOWN – Two city men have been arrested on drug charges following a routine traffic stop Friday night in downtown Jamestown.
City police say they stopped a vehicle driven by 39 year-old Walter Whitfield after he was observed allegedly using a cell phone while driving. The traffic stop took place at about 8:30 p.m. Friday at 200 W. 3rd Street.
During the stop, officers discovered that Whifield was wanted on several outstanding warrants. A further investigation also turned up packaging material for drugs, and about half an ounce of methamphetamine.
Whitfield and a passenger, identified as 35 year-old Lanie Philbrick were both taken into custody, arraigned on related charges, and sent to the county jail.
