JAMESTOWN – Two city residents face child endangerment charges and their home has been condemned after it was discovered to be in deplorable conditions.
According to Jamestown Police, officers were called to a residence at 80 Hazzard St. just before noon on Sunday to investigate the welfare of three small children between the age of 5 and 8 years-old.
According to police, both officers and agents from Child Protective Service found deplorable living conditions inside the home – including feces, trash, and junk, along with leaking pipes and ceiling tiles that were coming down.
The home was condemned and two individuals identified as 37 year-old Kimberly Scriven and 35 year-old Merle Smith were both charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
The three children were taken by family members to another location. Three dogs were also taken to the animal shelter.
