JAMESTOWN – City police are continuing their investigation into a strong-armed home invasion that took place late last week and was apparently drug related.
Jamestown Police Captain Robert Samuelson says the investigation has already lead to the arrest of two individuals, although police are still searching for at least one other suspect involved in the incident, which took place 1:30 a.m. Friday morning at 76 Pershing Avenue. The incident led to the resident of the home having to be hospitalized.
Samuelson also said the suspects and victim knew each other and that it was not a random act of violence.
According to police, three men forced their way into the home carrying a machete and billy club while wearing masks. They then allegedly bound the victim with duct tape before beating him. Several items were also taken from the home, including a safe, clothing, cash, jewelry and coins.
Following an investigation by the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force, police were able to obtain search warrants for two residences and brought two people into custody. One was identified as 22 year old Robert Ellsworth of Ashville, who was charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary.
A 17 year-old male, who’s name is not being released, was also brought into custody after police went to a home on Wicks Ave. in West Ellicott. Police say the teen was allegedly trying to escape out a back window, but they were able to bring him into custody and he was allegedly found to have a large amount of marijuana, stolen property and “shatter” on him. Investigators say two more pounds of marijuana was found inside the home along with a quarter ounce of shatter.
The 17-year-old faces potential felony drug charges and possession of stolen property charges.
