JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown woman along with a teenager face animal cruelty charges following an investigation by city police this past week.
According to a media release from the Jamestown Police Department, 40-year-old Christine Emming was charged with 10 counts of cruelty to animals after a dog was found dead in her Prendergast Avenue apartment.
Jamestown police report arriving to 1101 Prendergast Ave., Apt. 1, for a report of a burglary. A subsequent investigation revealed Emming and a 16-year-old had 10 dogs in the house living in deplorable conditions that ended up killing one of the animals.
Police say the apartment was found to have no utilities, no dog food, no running water and no proper care or nourishment for the dogs.
Emming and the 16-year-old were charged with 10 counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; and failure to provide proper sustenance.
The nine surviving dogs were removed from the location and are being cared for at a local animal shelter.
