On Oct. 17 at 8 p.m., actor/director/playwright, Frank Ferrante will recreate his acclaimed portrayal of the iconic comedian, Groucho Marx on the Reg stage. Audience members will become part of the show as Ferrante – accompanied by a pianist – delivers the best Groucho one-liners, stories and songs, including “Lydia, the Tattoed Lady.” The two act An Evening with Groucho takes the audience through Marx’s life, including his start in vaudeville, through a film career with his brothers and his last act in entertainment as a tv show host.
The acclaimed folk band, Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem will shake the rafters with their concert, American Spiritual on Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. The show is billed as a “bona fide revival”, WITHOUT a tent, potluck dinner and preaching. Led by veteran performer, breast cancer survivor, mother and songwriter, Rani Arbo, the group will play folk, gospel and originals drawing from 200 years of roots music. Local church choirs will be invited to participate in part of the concert to make it a community-wide experience.
China’s Golden Dragon Acrobats will make their triumphant return to the Reg stage after a stint on Broadway. They will bring back their show, Cirque Ziva, which played to a packed house in 2014. All the acrobatic, dance and music highlights will be back, including the gravity-defying chair climb. Cirque Ziva will show on Feb. 27 at 4 p.m.
William Shakespeare’s classic tale, Romeo & Juliet, will be presented in its entirety by the internationally known company, Aquila Theatre. The star-crossed lovers of the title contend with their warring families, murder, tragedy and romance on their fateful journey. Aquila’s moving adaption of the most famous of Shakespeare’s plays is innovative and physically dynamic. Romeo & Juliet will play on March 11 at 7:30 p.m.
More shows will soon be announced for the rest of the Reg Presents season. Also coming up will be a new season of Rolling Hills Radio with Ken Hardley and the Southern Tier Brewing Company LIVE Series.
