SINCLAIRVILLE – A Sinclairville man and two teenagers have been charged with larceny after the trio allegedly tried to steel scrap metal from a Town of Charlotte highway building.
Officers say there were called to the Town of Charlotte Highway Barn at 7320 North Hill Road in Sinclairville just before 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Highway workers had reportedly received a tip that someone was taking scrap metal that had been brought in by local residents during the spring cleanup. A town highway employee and the highway superintendent confronted the suspects and prevented them from leaving until Deputies arrived. After an investigation, the two adult males, 36 year old John Carpenter and a 17 year old male, were charged with Petit Larceny and will appear in the Town of Charlotte Court on a later date. It is alleged that another juvenile male was involved as well.
The investigation is ongoing and other charges may be pending.
