Third Street Streetscape Projects Move Forward Following Planning Commission Approval

June 21, 2018 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

The sidewalk in front of the Reg Lenna will see a major overhaul in the coming weeks.

JAMESTOWN – There will be increased construction activity on East Third Street in the coming weeks now that the city Planning Commission has signed off on site plans for an upcoming Streetscape reconstruction project.

The project will take place in front of the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts and is intended to help make the area more walkable and friendly for visitors.  Two additional streetscape projects will take place along West Third Street between Washington and Cherry streets and along Cherry Street between Third and Fourth streets. Funding for the projects come from a portion of the $10 million DRI Grant the city received in 2016.

For the Reg Lenna project, large planters will be removed and heated sidewalks will be installed.

The goal is to have the project completed by Aug. 1, in time for the start of the 2018 Lucille Ball Comedy Festival.
