The murder trial of Anthony Robert Taglianetti II is now over. On Friday afternoon, a jury of Chautauqua County residents found Taglianetti guilty of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Keith Reed Jr.
Reed was a Clymer Central School superintendent who was found dead outside of his home in September 2012, the victim of a homicide. Following an investigation, Taglianetti was arrested on charges a short time after Reed’s body was found.
The prosecution painted a picture to the jury that Taglianetti had driven 350 miles from his home in Virginia to confront Reed, upon learning that his wife at the tim, Mary Taglianetti, was having an online affair with Reed.
Chautauqua County District Attorney David Foley said he was very pleased with the verdict of the jury, which came down following nearly 3 hours of closing statements from both the prosecution and public defender Ned Barone.
Taglianetti’s sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 24, 2014.
