JAMESTOWN – It’s a big day for college students across the Country, including some right here in Chautauqua County. Jamestown Community College and SUNY Fredonia will both be hosting their commencement ceremonies this weekend.
JCC’s 2014 Commencement program is Saturday and begins at 10 a.m. in the Physical Education Complex. An estimated 1500 students are expected to receive their associates degree this year from JCC. This year’s commencement address will be delivered by Joshua T. Harris, a 1998 JCC alumnus who currently serves as the policy director for The Future of Privacy Forum, a Washington, DC based think tank advancing responsible data use and consumer privacy.
SUNY Fredonia’s 187th annual Commencement is also scheduled for Saturday in Steele Hall Arena. The event will be held at 10 a.m. and a second at 3 p.m.
The campus will welcome Dr. Sarah Ramirez as its keynote speaker at both ceremonies. Dr. Ramirez, named a CNN Hero in April, is a community-engaged health educator and researcher and co-founder of BeHealthy Tulare.
SUNY Fredonia will also have live streaming video of the Commencement ceremonies. There will be a link to connect from the university’s home page at www.fredonia.edu.
