JAMESTOWN – The man seeking to challenge long-time Sheriff Joe Gerace in this year’s election has received an endorsement from a group of law enforcement officers.
On Thursday the New York State Troopers PBA endorsed Republican Chautauqua County Sheriff Candidate Jim Quattrone.
In a media release, Quattrone said Chautauqua County residents and visitors deserve a community that they can feel safe and secure, and that only happens when agencies can collaborate and cooperate with each other. Quattrone said his push for better collaboration and cooperation would unify the county’s efforts on drug enforcement rather than having multiple drug task forces.
Local law enforcement currently has the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force – comprising of the Jamestown, Ellicott, and Lakewood-Busti police department; the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, comprising of the Chautauqua County and Cattaraugus County sheriff’s offices and the Dunkirk Police Department; and there’s also the State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team.
