ALBANY – Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed legislation that officially affirms the name change of the Chautauqua Wine Trail to the “Lake Erie Wine Country Trail,” the group’s preferred title for marketing and promotional efforts since 2010.
According the Senator Cathy Young, who co-sponsored the bill for the name-change with Assemblyman Andy Goodell, the new name will grow economic opportunities and more prosperity for our region. Young said that by including ‘Lake Erie’ in the trail’s title, it will enhance broader marketing and branding of the region for tourism, recreation, and commercial efforts. The Lake Erie Wine Country Trail highlights the largest concord grape growing area in the nation – which stretches from Silver Creek, NY to Harborcreek, Pennsylvania.
