ALBANY – Governor Andrew Cuomo Tuesday announced a critical two-day training drill at the Port of Albany to simulate risks associated with ignitable liquids such as crude oil. The drill, which began Tuesday and continues today is being conducted by the state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES).
Governor Cuomo said New York State is actively working to prevent and protect its communities from potential disasters related to the shipment of crude oil over rail line. From training exercises, aggressive inspections of rail facilities and calling for tougher safety regulations from the federal government, the governor said that New York is moving aggressively to address any and all safety concerns.
