JAMESTOWN – The top financial officer of New York State will be in Chautauqua County today.
New York Comptroller Tom DiNapoli is in the area for a couple of appearances.
This morning he’ll be in Jamestown as a guest of Mayor Sam Teresi. The comptroller is excepted to make several stops while in town, including a tour of the Jamestown Gateway Train Station. Later DiNapoli will be in the north county, serving as the keynote speaker for a Salute to Labor dinner in Dunkirk.
DiNapoli’s office is responsible for overseeing and auditing financial operations in New York State, from the state budget and various agencies all the way down to individual municipalities. He also manages the state pension system, one of the largest public pension systems in the world.
Prior to being named comptroller in 2007, DiNapoli served as an assemblyman, representing the Assembly’s 16th district, located on Long Island.
