Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards and the Southern Tier West Regional Planning & Development Board are seeking three motivated residents from Chautauqua County to serve on the Southern Tier West Planning Board.
The board was created in 1969 by a resolution of the County Legislatures of Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua Counties. The board helps coordinate and enhance planning and develops activities that promote social, physical, and economic development in the southern tier west region.
The board is made up of sixteen members, with five members from each of the three counties and one member from the Seneca Nation of Indians. As the region covers 3 counties and over 127 municipalities, it is important that all board members are able to attend each and every meeting, faithfully serve on committees or subcommittees when appointed, and to keep all board participation free of politics or personal interests.
Chautauqua County representatives are appointed by the County Executive and are subject to the review and approval of the Chautauqua County Legislature. Members serve a three-year term and can seek re-appointment upon the expiration of their term.
Residents interested in serving on the Board should submit their contact information and a brief biography to the Chautauqua County Executive’s office.
