JAMESTOWN – Chautauqua County Executive Vince Horrigan will be joining representatives from the American Red Cross of Western and Central New York Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the American Red Cross Office in Jamestown to raise awareness for the American Red Cross’ Sound the Alarm events in September and October.
Sound the Alarm is part of the American Red Cross’ nationwide Home Fire Campaign.
The campaign was launched in 2014 and its goal is to reduce the number of home fire deaths and injuries by 25 percent.
A critical component of the campaign is Sound the Alarm, which is a series of home fire safety and smoke alarm installation events where Red Cross volunteers and partners canvass high-risk neighborhoods to install free smoke alarms, replace batteries in existing alarms and help families create escape plans.
