ITHACA, N.Y. – Congressional Candidate Nate Shinagawa (D-Ithaca) announced Thursday that the Working Families Party leaders in Central and Western New York have endorsed his campaign for Congress. Shinagawa will have the party’s line on the ballot — Row D — and the support of the Working Families Party’s activist base.
Shinagawa is a hospital administrator serving his sixth year on the Tompkins County legislature and is a registered Democrat. He is currently campaigning for the Democratic party’s endorsement against fellow democrats Melissa Dobson and Leslie Danks Burke. A primary will take place on June 26 throughout the newly created 23rd Congressional District. Congressman Tom Reed of Corning will run for the Republican party in the November election.
