BEMUS POINT – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office navigation team rescued a fisherman who fell out of his boat early Tuesday night near Bemus Point.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were on patrol in the lake near Oriental Park when they saw a subject floating in the water just after 7:20 p.m.
They say the 60-year old man, whose name is not being released, had fallen overboard from his small fishing boat and was unable to get back in. They say he had been floating for about thirty minutes.
The media release stated the man complained of leg numbness and was unable to stand. Deputies were able to lift him into a patrol boat and then took him to Bemus Point rescue for evaluation and treatment.
