MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies are being credited with helping to save the life of a despondent individual during an incident Saturday afternoon in the Town of Chautauqua.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to an undisclosed location in the town at around 3:30 p.m. to check the wellbeing of a 35-year old male.
Upon arrival, deputies located the subjectlocked in his vehicle and holding a razor blade to his throat. When the male subject began to harm himself with the razor, deputies broke the vehicle’s window and deployed a tasar.
The subject was detained and transported to UPMC Chautauqua for his injuries.
Upon further investigation, deputies determined that the male was operating the vehicle while under the influence of drugs.
The individual, whose name was not released, was discharged from the hospital and arrested for felony driving while ability impaired by drugs and various traffic tickets. He was then arraigned in the Town of Chautauqua Court and sent to the County Jail with no bail. He was also held on an outstanding warrant out of Pennsylvania.
