LAKEWOOD – Chautauqua Mall is making strides for people with special needs as the site of the Seventh Annual “Healing with Horses Walk-A-Thon” on Sunday, March 13.

The walk, which benefits Centaur Stride, will kick-off at 2 p.m. in front of Old Navy.

Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. and the nearly one-mile walk will kick-off at 2 p.m. Walkers are encouraged to create an online donation page to raise additional funds.  A minimum $10 donation, which can be submitted on event-day, is required to participate.

“Chautauqua Mall is proud to support a variety of deserving organizations, such as Centaur Stride,” said Cynde Breneman, director of marketing and business development at Chautauqua Mall. “As an easily accessible, indoor center with great retail and dining options, Chautauqua Mall is an ideal venue for this fundraiser.”

Centaur Stride provides therapeutic recreational enrichment for people with special needs through horseback riding. The organization takes extra steps to involve both parents and siblings of special needs program participants. The year-round facility provides services to more than 150 riders with disabilities, annually. The organization’s equine therapy programs were designed to improve participants’ potential or ability to walk, strengthen less frequently used muscles, improve hand function, increase balance and equilibrium reactions and create a fun pastime for people with special needs.
