SALAMANCA – The leader of the Seneca Nation of Indians is speaking out on the approval by state lawmakers to establish a constitutional amendment to that allows for up to seven non-Native American casinos throughout the state.
President Robert Odawi Porter released a statement, saying the Seneca Nation remains skeptical of the initial decision, adding that the nation still has concerns for its $1 billion business, the people of the nation, its 5,000 employees, its vendors and customers and protecting its $900 million investment in this region.
He said he expects the state to honor terms of Seneca/state gaming compact, which calls for exclusivity protections in western New York and runs for another 13 years.
