ALBANY – In an ongoing effort to preserve Chautauqua Lake, Sen. Cathy Young (R-Olean) says she has helped to secured $245,000 in the New State Budget for programs that tackle invasive species.
Senator Young secured $150,000 to fund efforts by the Chautauqua Lake Association to remove invasive species and $95,000 for the Chautauqua Lake Partnership to assist with an environmental impact review regarding the application of herbicides in targeted locations around the lake to remove invasive weeds.
Young said Chautauqua Lake brings nearly $600 million to our region annually and sustains roughly 5,600 jobs in Chautauqua County.
As a result of the state funding, the projects will help residents and visitors continue to enjoy the benefits of Chautauqua Lake.
