RANDOLPH – New York State Police are continuing their investigation into a reported car jacking incident that took place last week in Randolph.
According to a published report, the incident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday when an unidentified male motorist noticed what appeared to be a broken-down van on the side of Coldspring Rd. When he stopped to offer help, a man stood up and displayed a knife and demanded the victim’s wallet and car keys. The victim did not comply and the two got into a scuffle before he was able to break free and drive off from the scene.
The suspect is described as a black man about 5 feet 10 inches tall, in his 30s, with no facial hair. He was wearing a black hoodie and a New York Yankees baseball cap. The van was reportedly driven by a heavy-set, white female with long brown hair and a purple shirt.
The van is described as a black, Dodge minivan, with Pennsylvania license plates and a red peace symbol on the rear window. It was last seen going down Ireland Rd. off of Coldspring Rd.
Anyone with information into the incident is asked to call NY State Police in Jamestown.
