JAMESTOWN – Senator Charles Schumer was in Jamestown Friday to announce his plan to introduce a congressional resolution designating Jamestown’s National Comedy Center as the official National Comedy Center of the United States.
According to Schumer, the official congressional designation will help solidify the facility as a civic landmark and cultural institution, and the premiere “National Comedy Center” of the United States.
The 37,000 sq-ft, $50 million National Comedy Center will reportedly employ 32 people and is expected to create nearly 200 spin-off jobs with a $23 million annual impact on the region. The project is based on the vision of the late Lucille Ball and has been years in the making. It is expected to open this summer.
