JAMESTOWN – The Roger Tory Peterson Institute will host an artist’s reception today from 5 to 6:30 PM to celebrate the work of Alan Friedman, whose work is featured in RTPI’s current exhibition, “Here Comes the Sun.”
The event is free and open to the public.
At 7 PM following the RTPI reception Friedman will present “Catching Sunlight,” — an exploration of the technical and aesthetic challenges of photographing the sun — at the Carnahan Center Theater at Jamestown Community College. It is also free and open to the public.
Friedman, who is considered an expert astrophotographer, takes high resolution photos of the sun, planets, and stars from a less-than- ideal location in his downtown Buffalo backyard. His images can be viewed at www.avertedimagination.com.
