JAMESTOWN – The Roger Tory Peterson Institute (RTPI) presents their annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Guests who attend the event will enjoy free admission into our current exhibits and light refreshments, and they will be entered into a drawing to win a signed, limited-edition Roger Tory Peterson print. This event is part of Swedish Christmas Market Day in Jamestown – Julmarknad, organized by the Scandinavian Studies Program at Jamestown Community College.
Many of Roger Tory Peterson’s field guide plates, original paintings, and other memorabilia from the Peterson collection will be on display in RTPI’s galleries. This year’s Holiday Open House also coincides with the opening of the Focus on Nature XIV exhibition, which features over 60 works in a variety of mediums representing artists from a diverse geographic range. These works represent a marriage of pleasure and practicality – wherein the artist’s keen observations and sensory interpretations of their subjects are exquisitely rendered. Focus on Nature is an exhibition organized by the New York State Museum.
Another incentive to visit RTPI’s Holiday Open House is to browse the wonderful array of new items featured in their Nature Store; you’re sure to find unique and inspiring gifts for everyone on your shopping list. RTPI will also be offering an extensive selection of used books, including an array of natural history and children’s titles, for only $1.00 each.
Hours for this event are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. For more information about this or other events at RTPI visit www.rtpi.org. RTPI is located at 311 Curtis Street in Jamestown.
