JAMESTOWN – Jamestown police arrested a Rochester man Wednesday morning following a vehicle pursuit through the city.
According to a media release from the Jamestown Police Department, 26 year-old Nicholas Brown of Rochester was charged with obstructing government administration, resisting arrest, unlawfully fleeing police in a motor vehicle, aggravated unlicensed operation, and reckless driving, along with 10 other vehicle and traffic violations.
Police say officers attempted to stop Brown for a traffic violation on the corner of Fairmount Ave. and Hall Ave. at 8:43 a.m. They say instead of stopping, the vehicle left at a high rate of speed and led police on a pursuit across the city that ended on Sturges St. near Crossman St. They say at that point Brown left the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers were able to finally stop Brown on Winsor St. near Price St., although he allegedly refused to listen to commands from officers until they were finally able to subdue him.
Brown was arrested on the above charges and was sent to the city jail to await arraignment.
