ITHACA – The Tompkins County Democrat running against Chautauqua County’s representative in congress has filed a “Freedom of Information Request” demanding the release of all documents related to any and all communications with the House Ethics Committee.
Martha Robertson (D-Ithaca) also released a campaign ad demanding that Congressman Tom Reed (R-Corning, NY-23) release all documents related to the reported House Ethics Investigation.
Last month, a report in the Buffalo News uncovered the investigation, which involved the continued use of Reed’s name on a law firm controlled by his family and how it may be in possible violation of House Ethics rules. Earlier this month, he said that he does not plan to make public any communications he’s had with the house ethics committee.
Robertson, who chairs the Tompkins county legislature, said voters deserve to know exactly what ethical issues, and possibly legal issues, their Congressman may be facing before they go to the polls in November.
