JAMESTOWN – Local residents who use the Greater Jamestown Riverwalk are asked to be on a heightened level of vigilance after a vandal reportedly dropped thumbtacks along the pathway earlier this month.
According to the Post-Journal, more than ten bicycle tires had to be repaired by the Jamestown Cycle Shop between Thursday and Friday last week due to tacks being dropped on an area of the path.
A check of the area by the Cycle Shop revealed that someone had dropped more than 50 thumbtacks on the path near the business – which is located along Harrison St. in Jamestown.
As a result of the vandalism, the business put a post up on Facebook that warned bicyclists and residents to be aware and on the lookout whenever using the Riverwalk.
The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department had been made aware of the situation and will monitor areas of the path in case it happens again.
