RIPLEY – One woman is dead after a train struck her SUV during a collision that took place Thursday afternoon in Ripley.
State police say 58 year-old Marilyn Triana of Ripley was killed after a CSX train on the westbound tracks struck her vehicle on Goodrich St. The impact threw the SUV 150 yards before it rolled over and caught fire.
Police say it’s not known if she was avoiding the lights to cross or was preoccupied with another train that was also passing at about the same time.
Triana was pronounced deceased at the scene. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
