STOW – Rescue Crews were busy Thursday morning in North Harmony responding to a reported vehicle that had driven off the Stow Ferry ramp and into Chautauqua Lake.
The vehicle entered the lake between 5 and 6 a.m. and was fully submerged. According to an account by a witness at the scene, the vehicle had gone nearly 60 feet into the lake. Rescue crews were called to the scene and able to pull one person out of the vehicle – although the person’s condition or identity was not immediately known. No one else was believed to be in the vehicle. No other details are available at this time, although this morning’s foggy weather conditions may have played a role.
Members of the Ashville and Bemus Volunteer Fire Departments are assisting at the scene, along with members of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team.
