Me and Earl and the Dying Girl tells the story of Greg (Thomas Mann), a high school senior who is trying to blend in anonymously, avoiding deeper relationships as a survival strategy for navigating the social minefield that is teenage life. He even describes his constant companion Earl (RJ Cyler), with whom he makes short film parodies of classic movies, as more of a ‘co-worker’ than a best friend. But when Greg’s mom (Connie Britton) insists he spend time with Rachel (Olivia Cooke) – a girl in his class who has just been diagnosed with cancer – he slowly discovers how worthwhile the true bonds of friendship can be.
Also appearing in the film is recent Lucille Ball Comedy Festival performer, Nick Offerman. The film is rated PG-13 and is 105 minutes long.
Upcoming movies include Ian McKellen as Sherlock Holmes in Mr. Holmes on August 29 and September 2, the Sundance Festival documentary, The Wolfpack on September 9, the Amy Schumer comedy, Trainwreck on September 16, Sing Along with The Muppet Movie on September 19 and the Sprout Film Festival presented by The Resource Center on September 26.
