JAMESTOWN – Residents in Chautauqua County will be able to attend a debate between the two candidates for the state’s 23rd congressional district.
Democratic Candidate John Plumb’s campaign is announcing that the Navy Commander and Randolph NY native will take part in at least three debates with incumbent Republican Tom Reed (Corning), with one of them taking place in Mayville.
The debates so far include:
- A Jamestown Post-Journal debate that will be closed to the public in October
- A televised WETM-TV debate in Elmira on Friday, October 28
- A debate hosted by the Chautauqua County League of Women Voters in Mayville on Tuesday, November 1.
The specific location and time of the Chautauqua County debate will be released in October.
The Mayville debate will be the first time Reed has participated in a local League of Woman Voters’ forum since 2012, when he first ran for office in a congressional district that included Chautauqua County.
Deb Meeker says
What is the purpose of a debate that’s not open to the public? Tom Reed must be terrified to agree to the League of Women Voters; voting to deny women of their rights is one of Reed’s most glaring failures.
