MAYVILLE – The murder Trial of Barabara Redeye resumed Tuesday in Chautauqua County Court.
According to the Post-Journal, Redeye’s attorney – Public Defender Ned Barone – called witnesses to the stand to help build a case that the murder victim – Dale Redeye – had a history of violence and that Barbara Redeye acted in self-defense. She’s accused of stabbing and killing her half-brother during an incident at a Lakeview Ave. Apartment last summer.
Called to the stand was a long-time acquaintance of Dale Redeye who provided testimony of his violent behavior while drinking. Also called were police officers from Salamanca and St. Mary’s, PA – who both had run-ins with Dale Redeye when he had been drinking and was allegedly combative.
Chautauqua County District Attorney Patrick Swanson is prosecuting Barbara Redeye on a charge of 2nd degree murder, arguing that she intentionally killed the Dale Redeye out of anger during an escalated confrontation.
Barone claims his client acted out of self-defense.
The trial is scheduled to resume Wednesday morning in county court.
