MAVYILLE – The trial of the Jamestown woman accused in the stabbing homicide of her half-brother last summer is now underway in Mayville.
The Jamestown Post-Journal is reporting that opening statements in the trial of 24 year old Barbara Redeye were made Tuesday in Chautauqua County Court.
County district attorney Patrick Swanson is prosecuting the case, while Redye is being represented by public defender Ned Barone. At issue is whether or not Redeye committed the act in self-defense or in a rage-filled act of violence. Along with opening statements, several witnesses also provided testimony. Redeye is charged with second-degree murder and faces a potential 15 to 25 years in prison.
The trial is scheduled to resume today at 9:30 a.m. in Chautauqua County Court.
