FREDONIA – The New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold two public hearings Thursday, Oct. 23 in Fredonia, dealing with a natural gas pipeline that will bring fuel to the NRG plant in Dunkirk.
The purpose of the hearing is to allow National Fuel to be considered as the natural gas provider for the Dunkirk Repowering Project. Part of the proposal involves the development of a natural gas pipeline to the facility, located in north Dunkirk on the shores of Lake Erie.
The current pipeline plan has gone through a comprehensive environmental review, right of way agreements, and final permitting, with shovels ready to enter the ground. However, a public hearing on the plan must first take place prior to the PSC giving approval.
The public hearing will take place Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening. Informational forums are scheduled for 2 and 6 p.m., with the public statement hearing scheduled for 3 and 7 p.m.
The hearings will take place at the Fredonia Opera house and will be open to the public.
