JAMESTOWN – The Prendergast Library Board of Trustees will hold its monthly meeting this afternoon at the library. No agenda has been provided regarding what business will be discussed at the meeting, although it is open to the public.
Last month the library board met and made several decisions involving the 2016 budget in the wake of a failed public vote on an $850,000 community funding initiative. One of those decisions included reducing hours of operation.
During today’s meeting the board is likely to continue considering financial options that are intended to help close what is predicted to be a major budget challenge for next year – based on signs that the city will likely reduce or totally eliminate funding for the library due to its own budget challenges.
Thursday’s meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. and is open to the public.
