JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Police are asking the public to help with an investigation into an animal cruelty incident that took place on the city’s west side.
According to city police, a pit bull dog was found hanging by a tree Monday night in a wooded area off Hallock St., near the intersection with Palmer St.
The brown and white colored dog was reportedly found by a passer-by. Police say the dog had been there for some time and was decomposed, hanging by a red leash and blue nylon rope.
It is believed the animal could have been in the woods for up to a week or longer before being discovered.
Police say they will work to identify the owner of the dog as part of the investigation.
