JAMESTOWN – A city man faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm, after being arrested during a drug raid conducted late Wednesday afternoon.
According to Jamestown police captain Robert Samuelson, 26 year-old Steven Mojica-Medina is accused of having drugs and a loaded .357 pistol inside his home, a lower apartment at 628 Spring St. Three children were also living in the apartment.
Mojica-Medina was arrested following a raid that took place just before 5 p.m. Wednesday. Police say the raid was conducted following an investigation into the trafficking of heroin in the area. The investigation was a joint effort between the JPD and the CNET (NY State Police).
After obtaining a search warrant, police entered the home and found multiple packages of heroin that were ready for sale, along with a quantity of powdered heroin that was not yet packaged. Police say the estimated street value was $3,000. During the search, police also discovered the loaded pistol (see image below).
Mojica-Medina was charged with two counts of 3rd degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count of criminal possession of a firearm, and three counts of child endangerment. He is awaiting arraignment in the city jail. The three children are currently staying with a relative. Police add that child protective services is also investigating.
