JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Post-Journal is reporting that a 47-year-old man drowned Wednesday after getting swept into the Chadakoin River near the intersection of Winsor and Harrison Streets in Jamestown
Police say 47-year old Dennis Plumber of Jamestown was reportedly swimming in the river trying to stay cool. A witness said the man suddenly got caught up in the water and went under the surface.
Members of the Jamestown police, Fire Department, and Alstar EMS responded to the scene shortly before 3 p.m. Plummer’s body was recovered in about 10 feet of water shortly after 4 p.m. near the area of the river where he went under. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
