SHERIDAN – A Cattaraugus County main is in the county jail today after leading police on a high-speed chase early Saturday morning.
Chautauqua County Sheriff Deputies say they stopped a vehicle driven by 32 year-old Michael Buthy of Perrysburg along Rt. 39 in the Town of Sheridan. He was pulled over just after midnight Saturday morning for speeding.
While speaking with deputies, Buthy allegedly put his vehicle into gear and pulled away and a pursuit then took place. He was eventually stopped after authorities used spike strips to deflate the tires on his vehicle. Police say Buthy then allegedly backed his vehicle into a patrol car and drove away from the scene. He was followed into Cattaraugus County and finally taken into custody after pulling into his residence.
Buthy was charged with 2nd degree Criminal Mischief, 2n degree Reckless Endangerment, Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, Speeding and numerous other Vehicle and Traffic violations. He was arraigned in the Town of Sheridan Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail.
