JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown man has died after being hit by a car shortly before 6 a.m. Monday in downtown Jamestown.
Jamestown police and firefighters were called to Prendergast Avenue, between East Fifth and East Sixth streets for the crash involving an SUV and pedestrian, identified as 59-year-old Kent Norgren. He was transported to UPMC Chautauqua and later UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa. where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team was also on the scene and the street remained closed for a couple hours after the incident took place.
No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
