JAMESTOWN – The Chautauqua County Airport in Jamestown has a new name.
On Saturday local officials held a ceremony at the airport to recognize its new name as the The Greater Chautauqua Airport Robert H. Jackson Field. The airport is named for Robert H. Jackson, who grew up in Frewsburg, practiced law in Jamestown and went on to become a U.S. Supreme Court Justice and also the chief prosecutor of the Nuremburg War Crimes Trial.
During the ceremony, local actor Robert Terreberry was also on hand and provided remarks in the role of Justice Jackson. A C-47 airplane, similar to the one that Jackson flew in while prosecuting the WWII war criminals in Germany, was also on display.
